Friends of Acadia Presents
"An Evening with John Muir"
Sunday, September 26
4:00. - 6:00 p.m.
Lee Stetson, the actor who wowed audiences with his portrayal of naturalist and conservationist John Muir in the Ken Burns documentary National Parks: America's Best Idea, will give a benefit performance on Sunday, September 26 at 4 p.m. at The Grand Theatre in Ellsworth. The event is presented by Friends of Acadia.
The man who, according to filmmaker Ken Burns, “knows more about John Muir than anyone else on earth” will perform “ An Evening with John Muir,” a stirring depiction of Muir's battle to preserve the beautiful Hetch Hetchy Valley in Yosemite National Park. Muir's righteous anger at the “temple destroyers” is tempered by his hearty good humor and his relating of a number of extraordinary wilderness adventures. The show, which has been presented every summer in Yosemite since 1983,
is an inspiring performance for anyone interested in conservation, the outdoors, or our national parks. To learn more about Lee Stetson, visit his website at www.johnmuirlive.com .
Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors, and $8 for children (12 & under). Tickets are available at The Grand box office, 207-667-9500, or www.grandOnline.org. The performance is sponsored by The Bar Harbor Inn & Spa and other friends, and proceeds will benefit Friends of Acadia and The Grand Theatre.
