VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Acadia National Park relies on the help of Friends of Acadia volunteers to maintain park resources. Each year, 3,000 volunteers contribute over 10,000 hours to outdoor projects in the park, cleaning drainage along carriage roads to reduce erosion, re-opening and maintaining trails and vistas, and constructing new village connector trails. Special volunteer events include the Earth Day Roadside Clean-up and Take Pride in Acadia Day.

FOA volunteer committees can put your particular skills and interests to work for the park. The Wild Gardens of Acadia Committee maintains the Gardens at Sieur de Monts and includes docents who help interpret the Gardens to visitors. The Acadia Winter Trails Association grooms the carriage roads in winter for cross country skiing. The Trenton VillageConnector Trail Committee is building a public walking/nature trail behind the Acadia Gateway Center. And the Schoodic Committee works on volunteer and other projects specific to the Schoodic distric of Acadia.

Friends of Acadia member donations pave the way for volunteer stewards to provide their best work. Each year Friends provides transportation, tools, training, and leadership on outdoor stewardship projects. If you would like to support our volunteers with a contribution, please contact Lisa Horsch Clark at 207-288-3340 or lisahorsch@friendsofacadia.org
