Clean Water, Clean Shores
Saturday, September 17, 2011

Clean Water, Clean Shores is the second annual cleanup event of the coastline of Mount Desert Island and the offshore islands associated with MDI. Last year's inaugural event was a huge success, and we are excited about the future of this joint venture sponsored by clean water advocacy organizations and our towns.

Cleanup location include the beaches and shores of MDI, and Alley, Bar, Bartlett's, Folly, Great Gott, Isleford, John's, Placentia, Pond, Swans, Tinker, and the Porcupine Islands, with sites in the towns of Trenton and Lamoine as well. Opportunities to join a kayak caravan or see Acadia from a rarely-visited island make this a fun—as well as valuable—cleanup event.

If you are interested in volunteering please call or e-mail Terry at 288-3340 or terry@friendsofacadia.org You must call to register and be assigned to a meeting location.

Sponsoring Organizations: Acadia National Park, Acadia Outfitters, Beal & Bunker, The Communities of Great Gott and Swan's Island, Friends of Acadia, Maine Coast Heritage Trust, Maine Island Trail Association, The Nature Conservancy, Maine SeaGrant, Maine Coastal Program, Maine Recreational Lands and Access, Mount Desert Island Biological Laboratory, MDI Paddlers, National Park Sea Kayak, The Town(s) of Bar Harbor, Cranberry Islands, Southwest Harbor, Mt.
